The iPhone is your karaoke mic in tvOS 26s Apple Music Sing

Apple’s new tvOS 26 has a very cool feature you may have missed in yesterday’s news onslaught that was the WWDC opening keynote.

If you’re not familiar with it, Apple Music Sing is a feature in Apple Music on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV 4K, introduced in 2022, that lets you sing along to a song’s lyrics.

Until now, the feature wasn’t particularly advanced; it boiled down to the ability to turn down a song’s vocals while reading its lyrics in real-time.

However, in tvOS 26, which just became available as a developer beta, Apple has taken Sing a little further with several new features. Most importantly, you can now use an iPhone as a hand-held microphone, and have your voice amplified and reproduced alongside the music. Yes, just like a real karaoke session.

Others can join in with their iPhones too, as long as they have an iPhone 11 or later, running the latest iOS.

You can sing along to a tune even if you don’t know the language; a feature called Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation will guide you. It’s only available for select songs and in a handful of languages; for a full list, check the fine print here.
