BetBoom sweep FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 playoff opener

BetBoom Team were the lone side to sweep a series on Thursday as playoffs began at the FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 event.

In the upper-bracket quarterfinals, BetBoom rolled to a 2-0 win over Team Spirit, while the other three matches ended with 2-1 scores: Team Tidebound over PARIVISION, Team Falcons over Tundra Esports and Gaimin Gladiators over Team Liquid.

The $500,000 Dota 2 tournament began with a group stage that used a modified Swiss system for 16 teams. All matches were best-of-three. The top eight teams advanced to the playoffs, and the remaining teams were eliminated.

The playoffs, which run through Sunday, feature a double-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three until the grand final, which is best-of-five. The winning team will earn $250,000.

On Thursday, BetBoom topped Team Spirit in 59 minutes on green and 65 minutes on red.

Russia’s Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko compiled an average 11.0/2.5/11.5 kill-death-assist ratio for BetBoom Team. Ukraine’s Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk wound up at 9/4/10 for Team Spirit.

Team Tidebound opened with a 35-minute victory on green, but PARIVISION equalized with a 22-minute triumph on green. Tidebound took the deciding map in 54 minutes on green.

China’s Guo “shiro” Xuanang led Team Tidebound with a 10.0/3.0/8.7 K-D-A ratio. Ukraine’s Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko finished at 7.0/5.0/6.7 for PARIVISION.

Tundra Esports claimed a 51-minute win on green before Team Falcons bounced back to capture a 43-minute victory on green and a 69-minute win on red.

Russia’s Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak registered an 8.0/4.0/11.7 K-D-A ratio for Team Falcons. Bulgaria’s Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov notched a 11.0/3.0/9.3 K-D-A ratio for Tundra Esports.

After Team Liquid recorded a 30-minute victory on green, Gaimin Gladiators responded with two wins on red, in 41 minutes and 37 minutes.

Kazakhstan’s Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov shined for Gaimin Gladiators at 7.0/1.7/7.7. Poland’s Michal “Nisha” Jankowski amassed an 8/4/9 K-D-A ratio for Team Liquid.

Four matches are scheduled for Friday:

–Upper-bracket semifinal: Team Falcons vs. Gaimin Gladiators

–Lower-bracket first round: PARIVISION vs. Team Spirit

–Lower-bracket first round: Tundra Esports vs. Team Liquid
